Going for Goals!
So 2013 is here!
If you’re reading this it’s a certainty that you are somebody who uses Facebook, where if you’re like me you’ll have a dozen friends who proclaim ”NEXT YEAR IS MY YEAR” before monotony rears it’s ugly head and they spend the entire year bemoaning their luck until the next new years eve.
There is something though about the new year that does bring hope and promise. Critics denounce it as just being another day, which in reality it is but if it evokes a new found passion and motivation is this really a bad thing??? As a poker player I find that often my life doesn’t always run in cycles, or in a set pattern, but even for myself on a day to day basis it’s easy to lose sight of your goals, with each day seeming to blur into the next.
I think the new year should be served as a time of reflection, but also as a time to get excited about new challenges/set yourself some goals and try your best to not let setbacks and obstacles along the way get in the way of that. The REAL challenge comes in trying to maintain the same positive attitude that most of us have in January, and making it last over the whole year.
From a personal perspective 2012 was in some ways the best year of my life and in other ways the worst. In my years I’ve been a professional I’ve always managed to achieve more success than I done in the year before and I’m hoping that continues for next year. I managed to go abroad 5 times, meet a lot of new people, some of whom have become good friends. On the downside the breakup of a 7 year relationship contributed to a lack of form/volume during the end of summer/autumn, with a death in the family also having a weird effect on me even if I didn’t like to show it in public.
Towards the middle of the year I went on a serious health kick and managed to lose 10 pounds in a matter of weeks before having cartilage issues on my knee which I’m going to have an operation on before the end of January. I can’t wait to get back into football!
Due to me currently being as hungover as **** I’ll keep this short, but as is customary I’m going to write my list of goals for 2013. I’d be happy with achieving 80% of them, and I’m going to take a few weeks off in poker to set the wheels in motion. (pun intended)

Go abroad at least 8 times
Be on the roads driving by May

To steal and slightly alter a quote from one of my poker idols...remember the year is a Marathon not a Sprint!!!
